Product Overview
GR2 Titanium Exhaust Bellows are thin-wall, multi-ply corrugated flex elements engineered to absorb thermal expansion, vibration, and misalignment in high-performance exhaust systems. Grade 2 titanium offers an excellent balance of corrosion resistance, formability, and weight reduction compared to stainless steel, helping improve throttle response and reduce stress on welds and flanges.
Key Features
- Lightweight performance: Up to ~45–50% lighter than stainless bellows assemblies
- High-temperature resilience: Stable operation under continuous exhaust heat cycles
- Corrosion resistant: Excellent resistance to condensate, road salt, and corrosive exhaust byproducts
- Vibration isolation: Multi-ply construction for superior fatigue life and reduced NVH
- Flow-optimized: Smooth, tapered liners available to minimize turbulence and backpressure
- Customizable: Diameter, effective length, ply count, end fittings, and liners to suit your system
Typical Specifications (Customizable)
- Nominal diameter: 2.5", 3.0", 3.5" (other sizes on request)
- Overall length: 100–300 mm typical; custom lengths available
- Effective bellows length: 60–200 mm
- Ply construction: 2–3 ply Grade 2 titanium (typical ply thickness 0.15–0.30 mm)
- End connections: Titanium tube ends, V-band ferrules, slip joints, or flange stubs
- Liners: Internal sleeve or interlock liner (titanium) to protect bellows from exhaust stream
- Tolerances: OD ±0.30 mm, length ±1.0 mm (typical); tighter on request
Design Options
- Single or multi-convolution profiles optimized for axial and lateral movement
- Internal interlock or smooth liner to reduce noise and protect the bellows
- External braid or braidless design (titanium braid optional; stainless braid available on request)
- Stop rings/limiters for controlled travel and enhanced fatigue life
Performance Ratings (Guide)
- Axial movement: ±5–15 mm depending on size and convolution count
- Lateral/Angular movement: Application-specific; provided with design review
- Temperature: Suitable for typical exhaust temperatures; consult for continuous >650°C zones
- Pressure: Designed for low positive exhaust backpressure; burst/pressure test data available on request
Quality & Inspection
- Weld quality: Argon back-purged TIG welding; visual and, on request, dye penetrant testing
- Dimensional checks: OD/ID, length, concentricity, and end connection fit
- Leak test: Helium or air pressure leak testing available
Installation & Care
- Positioning: Install close to heat sources as needed but ensure sufficient support; avoid torsion loading
- Alignment: Maintain proper axial alignment and use correct hanger geometry
- First heat cycle: Re-check clamps/V-bands after initial run; inspect for leaks
- Cleaning: Mild detergent only; avoid harsh chemicals to preserve titanium surface
Applications
- Turbo downpipe flex joints and mid-pipes
- Cat-back systems for track and street cars
- Motorcycles and time-attack builds requiring maximum weight savings
- High-vibration exhaust sections on performance engines
Lead Time
- Common sizes in stock; custom configurations typically 7–15 working days
