Titanium Bend Manufacturing Process
The manufacturing process of titanium exhaust elbows is highly challenging, requiring sophisticated equipment and precise operation. First, during the forming stage, due to the high strength and significant springback of titanium alloys, conventional cold bending easily leads to oval deformation or cracking. Therefore, hot bending or CNC pipe bending processes are typically employed, and inert gas is introduced into the pipe to prevent oxidation and ensure the quality of the inner wall.
In terms of welding, TIG welding (Tungsten Inert Gas welding) is commonly used. During the welding process, both sides of the weld seam must be adequately protected with argon gas to prevent embrittlement caused by contact with air at high temperatures; otherwise, the strength and fatigue life will be significantly reduced.
In the post-processing stage, weld seam shaping, cleaning, and surface treatment are required, and sometimes stress relief treatment is also performed. The blue-purple oxide film formed after high-temperature use not only has a decorative effect but also reflects the level of process control and temperature management.
